Playhouse slates audition for 'The Curious Savage'

Putnam County Playhouse will have two sessions of auditions for the comedy The Curious Savage.

The first session will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 20. The second is set for 7 p.m. Monday, May 21. Both sessions will be in the Rehearsal Center of the Hazel Day Longden Theatre in Greencastle.

"The Curious Savage" is being sponsored by Rossok & Co Insurance and Pekin Insurance.

Director Jack Randall Earles said there are 11 roles for adults in the cast.

Characters include Ethel Savage, an older widow whose husband has left her $10 million; her grown children, Lilly Belle, Titus, and Samuel; and the guests at the Cloisters, an exclusive sanitarium including Jeffrey, a young war hero; Fairy May, a ballerina; Hannibal, a violin player; Mrs. Paddy, a painter who hates the world; and Florence, a grieving mother.

Also to be cast are two staff members of the Cloisters, Dr. Emmet and his nurse, Miss Wilhelmina.

No monolog is necessary. Those auditioning will be asked to read scenes from the script. Anyone who wishes to work backstage or on the technical side of the show is also encouraged to attend an audition session and fill out a form.
