Park's annual SPARK effort scheduled June 11-July 20

Friday, May 18, 2012

The annual summer recreation program SPARK, sponsored by the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department, is open to all local youngsters entering grades 1-6.

The SPARK program will include large group activities, structured games, local field trips, small group arts and crafts, team-building activities and daily swimming.

SPARK sessions are held 9:30-11:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday from June 11 through July 20. The group will meet each morning at the bandshell in Robe-Ann Park.

Participants will swim each day, weather permitting. Thus, parents are advised to consider swimsuits under their children's clothes in the morning, as it makes for more swim time.

For children's safety, no flip-flops will be allowed for SPARK participants. Closed-toed shoes are required, as youngsters will be walking almost all mornings.

Pre-registration is requested for SPARK. The program is free but donations will be accepted.

Registration forms will be available at Greencastle City Hall, the Putnam County Museum, the Putnam County Public Library, on line at www.cityofgreencastle.com then click on the Parks and Recreation tab.

Anyone with questions may contact Troy Scott at 653-3395 or tscott@cityofgreencastle.com.
