Annual Fishing Derby, Huck Finn costume contest June 2 at JC Park

The Greencastle Park and Recreation Department will celebrate its annual Kids All-American Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 2 at the pond in Jaycee Park.

The fishing derby will offer three events -- the Kids All American Fishing Derby, Kids Casting Contest and Huckleberry Finn Costume Contest.

Registration is set for 7:30-8 a.m. with the fishing contest scheduled 8-11 a.m. at Jaycee Park on Greencastle's East Side.

The fishing derby is free for boys and girls ages 2-16.

The event is sponsored by Walmart, Carpenter Realtors, Friends of the Park and the Greencastle Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.

Meanwhile, the 2012 Huckleberry Finn Costume Contest will be held as part of the event. Organizers will be looking for the angler in the best Huck Finn costume. There's a new fishing pole in it for the winner.

Awards will be presented at 11 a.m.
