County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday, June 6.

* At 10:40 a.m. Juan Martin Lopez Cuervo, 21, Indianapolis, was arrested for probation violation.

* At 4:40 p.m. Joshua Allen Sebastian, 21, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

Sheriff's Department

* On Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m. Deman Fields, 76, Shelbyville, was westbound on U.S. 36 in a 1955 Ford Fairlane when a 2006 PT Cruiser traveled north through the intersection of County Road 600 East, failing to stop.

Fields braked and veered to the left to avoid a collision. This caused him to lose control and hit a guardrail face.

He said there were three occupants of the vehicle, a white male driver in his late teens, an older white female passenger and a younger female passenger. Tracing the plate number revealed the vehicle was registered to Demi S. Webb of Indianapolis.

Damage was less than $1,000.

* On Sunday, June 3 at 5:10 p.m. Robert Bubb, 45, Cloverdale, was backing his 2001 Dodge Ram northbound in the driveway at 3617 E. CR 900 South. He failed to see a 2005 Cadillac CTS parked in the driveway and backed into it.

Damage $1,001-$2,500.

* At 5:30 p.m. Charles Goodwin, 27, Mooresville, was westbound on U.S. 40 just east of County Road 525 East in the right hand lane in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix.

He said a pickup truck tried to pass him on the left and veered into his lane. Goodwin veered right to avoid the collision, leaving the road and entering a ditch, causing damage to the undercarriage.

Damage was less than $1,000.

City Police

Two speeding citations were issued early Thursday by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 1:20 a.m., Mindy Hauk, 40, Spencer, was cited by Officer Nick Eastham on Bloomington Street for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone.

-- At 12:58 a.m., Noman Kidwai, 39, Lafayette, was ticketed by Officer Eastham for 48 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to a pair of dispatches on the evening of Tuesday, June 5.

* At 7:45 p.m. GFD was called to an alarm at 1014 Mill Pond Lane but was disregarded at 7:46 p.m.

* At 11:17 p.m. firefighters responded to an electrical short at 315 N. Jackson St. Cleared 11:32 p.m.
