Max Robert Floyd, 89, of Bloomfield, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012 at Ketcham Memorial Nursing Home in Odon.

Born Oct. 27, 1922 in Greene County, he was the son of Joseph Elmer and Effie Mae (Denman) Floyd.

Max served his country with the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a master sergeant. He served in World War II, Vietnam and the Korean War.

He also worked at General Electric as a civilian.

He was a member of the Bloomfield First Presbyterian Church, Bloomfield Lions Club, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Marine Corps Association, USMC Combat Helicopter Association, American Legion, VFW and the DAV.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Margaret Rose (Malone) Floyd of Bloomfield; children Phyllis Comado (Michael) of Beech Grove, Bill Floyd of Havlock, N.C., and Annette Dicks (David) of Indianapolis; stepchildren Christy Winemiller (Greg) of Albion, Ill., and Kara Talbott (James) of Bloomfield; sister Grace Hanson of Greencastle; grandchildren Donald Comado (Kathy), Brian Floyd (Virginia), Amanda Beaty (Steve), Melissa Douglas (Ande), David Dicks, Karen Dicks, Angela Dicks and Mary Dicks; stepgrandchildren Nathan Winemiller, Becca Winemiller, Maggie Talbott and Robbie Talbott; and great-grandchildren Nicholas Comado, Max Comado, Alex Floyd and Jacob Floyd.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, Hazel Summerville, Macel Floyd, Audrey Chipman, Helen Holley and Doris Fuller, a daughter-in-law, Linda Floyd, and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15 at the Bloomfield First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Greg Winemiller officiating

Interment will follow in Mount Nebo cemetery in Newberry where military services will be conducted.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield and from noon until the hour of services Friday at the church.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Bloomfield First Presbyterian Church.
