Jake and Tanner Best Friends Camp to benefit local Humane Society

DePauw University will host the 16th annual Jake & Tanner's Kid's Best Friend Basketball Camp for boys and girls entering pre-kindergarten through ninth grade.

The camp will be July 23-25 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the DePauw University Lilly Center.

Thanks to camp sponsors and a volunteer staff, most or all of the campers' tuition fees will go to the cause. DePauw women's basketball players, staff members and friends of the program will serve as coaches.

For the second consecutive year, money will be donated to the Humane Society of Putnam County and its reopening effort. Kids attending this summer's camp will present last year's check to a shelter representative.

The cost to attend is $65 per camper. There is a $10 discount for additional siblings who attend.

Along with basketball instruction, campers receive a noon lunch each day, pet care information, the opportunity to swim with a lifeguard present and much more.

Registration will take place on July 23 from 8:30-9 a.m. at the Lilly Center gym entrance.
