Fair Contestant -- Brooke Boetjer

Thursday, July 12, 2012

Brook Boetjer is a 19-year-old from Coatesville. She is the daughter of Doug and Kim and the sister of Oceaiaa, 22 and Coledon, 24.

Boetjer is a recent graduate of South Putnam High School. Her high school activities include swimming, volleyball, softball, basketball and National Honor Society.

She was also a part of 4-H, FCA and Indiana Shockwaves softball team.

Boetjer plans on attending Indiana University in the fall on a softball scholarship and major in business in marketing.

She would like to put her degree to use by owning and operating her own bridal boutique. Eventually, she hopes to get married, have children and live happily ever after.

She decided to enter the contest because she would like to show girls that you can excel in the athletic field but still be feminine enough to excel in other aspects of life.

Boetjer describes herself as outgoing, kind-hearted and hardworking. She is goal oriented and believes that all the accomplishments can show little girls they can achieve big things regardless of where they are from.

Her hobbies include instructing young girls in pitching and umpiring local softball games.

The best advice Boetjer would give a younger person is that you can be successful in all areas of your life with hard work, not just sports but also in every aspect of your life.

The event that has had the greatest impact, making her the person she is today is when she made the decision to de-commit from Arizona State University and accept a scholarship to play softball at Indiana University instead.

Although it was an extremely difficult decision, she chose to focus on the importance of family, friends and the supporters in her life. Having them be a part of her college career was just as important as her being able to play.

Boetjer most admires the late Becky Brothers. Brothers showed her that it was possible to be successful in both athletics and academics. She believes that if Mrs. Brothers were here today she would be proud of all that she has accomplished and the young woman she has become.
