Marcella I. 'Sally' Patterson Stewart

Marcella I. "Sally" Patterson Stewart, 92, of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Asbury Towers.

Born December 25, 1919 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of John L. and Opal O. (Grimes) Patterson and was a graduate of Greencastle High School. She married Roy Stewart on May 13, 1944 and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2009.

Survivors include her five children, Richard Stewart of Coatesville, Betty McGill and husband Paul and Marsha Romalia and husband John, all of Greencastle; Judith Osting and Carol Richardson and husband, Jerry, all of Palm Bay Florida; 10 grandchildren, Rick (Kari) Stewart, Marci (Travis) Grimes, Randy Stewart, Jeremy Osting, Scott (Megan) McGill, Courtney (Rob) Kwon, Jennifer Romalia, Matthew (Felicia) Romalia, Vanessa (Emory) Blake and Lauren Richardson; 12-great grandchildren; three brothers, Jack (Wanda) Patterson, Donald (Adrienne) Patterson and Keith (Joan) Patterson, all of Greencastle; three sisters, Doris McMains and companion Ray, Sue Inman and Kay (Bob) Gilley, all of Greencastle; brothers-in-law, Carl Leslie, Don (Vandetta) Stewart; sisters-in-law, Norma Patterson and Norma Jane Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings John L. "Junior" Patterson, Edith Fall, Virginia Pulliam, Robert Patterson, Joan Leslie and Furman Patterson.

Sally was a 50-year survivor of cancer; a wonderful wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother; a great cook; and the person who was always there for her family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 16 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Staggers officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
