Carolyn Ann (Ready) Thomas, 68, of Nashville, Tenn., and formerly of Grosse Pointe, Mich., died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Alive Hospice in Nashville following an extended illness.

Carolyn was born July 19, 1943 in Indianapolis, the daughter of William and Mary (McKeon) Ready.

She graduated from Ladywood High School in 1961.

Carolyn continued her education at St. Mary of the Woods College and received a bachelor's degree in home economics, graduating in 1965.

She also received a master's degree in public health from the University of Michigan in 1972.

Carolyn raised two children, Lesley Hermann and Brendan Thomas.

She also spent much of her time volunteering with many civic organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Ready Jr., and mother and father-in-law, Gerald and Ellen Thomas of Lena.

She is survived by her former husband and close friend, Michael Thomas of Birmingham, Mich.; daughter Lesley Hermann and husband Peter of Nashville, Tenn., and Brendan Thomas and wife Theresa of Chicago; grandchildren: Hazel Hermann and Alice Hermann as well as several extended family members.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at noon Saturday, July 21 at Annunciation Catholic Church, Brazil. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil.
