Once again the Greencastle Elks Lodge 1077 participated in the Dictionary Project, which provided dictionaries to all Putnam County fifth-graders, along with a thesaurus and world atlas. The goal of the project is to promote literacy to children as they transition from learning how to read to identifing and using information. The Elks joined this movement nationwide in 2004 and have donated more than 1.2 million dictionaries to students and their teachers as sponsors of the Dictionary Project.
