PUTNAMVILLE -- Community Supervision Managers from Marion County Community Corrections recently toured operations and programs at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.

Catherine Chimente, Mellissa Martinez, Antwonette Demming, Rebecca Remillard and Jared Wakeland from Marion County Community Corrections spent the morning touring the facility's offender dining area, housing units, education department, Prison Greyhound program, Clean Lifestyles Is Freedom Forever (CLIFF) substance abuse program and various other areas of the facility.

Wakeland voiced his surprise when he recognized the name of one of the offenders, currently on his case load, on a chess champion certificate.

The tour concluded at the stables of the Equine Management program where the visitors received information regarding class curriculum and watched retired racehorses galloping across the field.

Throughout the tour, the visitors were complimentary of staff and relayed their surprise by the variety of programs available to the offender population.

"Information sharing is an important part of our business. One way that we do that is to afford the opportunity to observe the day-to-day activities of offenders and operation of the facility. Hopefully, the insight gained from the tour will assist the community corrections staff in the performance of their duties," PCF Superintendent Stanley Knight said.
