County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Thursday, July 26 at 9:20 a.m. Colin Andrew Williams, 29, Noblesville, was arrested for probation violation.

At 10:52 a.m. Joshua James Fugate, 27, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for two counts of burglary and theft.

At 11:56 a.m. Miranda Jo McNew, 23, Greencastle, was charged with battery resulting in bodily injury.

* On Friday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m. Chad M. Clendening, 37, Greencastle, was held at the jail for probation violation and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious felon.

* On Saturday, July 28 at 1:15 a.m. Brady Jason McPherson, 37, Bloomington, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, failure to identify and driving with a suspended license.

At 2 a.m. Nathan Wesley Strong, 40, Plainfield, was lodged at the jail for operating while intoxicated and public intoxication.

At 4:43 a.m. Jeffrey Dean Tincher, 40, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

* On Sunday, July 29 at 12:01 a.m. Robert Lee Albright, 53, Greencastle, was held at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

At 3:30 a.m. Jayne Nicole Zorman, 41, Indianapolis, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

At 4 a.m. Jesse Lance Monnett, 21, Cloverdale, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 4:30 a.m. Kurt Jeffrey Vondersaar, 50, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

At 4:31 a.m. Julian Jose Briones, 56, Cloverdale, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 7:20 p.m. Steven Arthur Scherf, 64, Fort Wayne, was held at the jail for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, pointing a firearm and intimidation.

* On Monday, July 30 at 5 a.m. James Harlan Kenworthy, 40, Mooresville, was booked in for false informing.

At 5:20 a.m. Christen Nicole Walton, 28, Cloverdale, was arrested for possession of a firearm without a license and possession of a syringe.

At 9:15 a.m. Keith Allen Fennell, 36, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail for parole violation.

At 11:45 a.m. Jeffrey Allen Mays, 23, Indianapolis, was charged with failure to appear.

* On Tuesday, July 31 at 11:40 p.m. Kevin Anthony Smith, 50, Cloverdale, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

City Police

A 20-year-old Greencastle woman is facing theft charges following an alleged shoplifting incident at the Walmart store on Indianapolis Road.

Jessica Paige Hylton was arrested at 2:42 p.m. July 27 by Sgt. Chris Jones after being stopped by store officials with a variety of unpaid merchandise. She reportedly had purchased a number of grocery items collected in her cart but attempted to leave without paying for items placed in her purse.

Hylton allegedly brought a large empty purse into the store and filled it with a phone charger, incense burner, ashtray, candle and sheets and three pillow cases from a comforter set. She was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Total value of the items in question was listed at $126.33.

One recent accident was investigated by City Police.

The mishap was reported at 2:32 a.m. Saturday on the lot of Taco Bell on Indianapolis Road.

Officer Matt Huffman reported that a 1996 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Christopher F. Rood, 21, Reelsville, was reportedly following a 2000 Ford Taurus, driven by Justin L. Gorham, 19, Greencastle, down Avenue B and into the Taco Bell lot.

As Gorham tried to turn his car into a parking space, it was struck by the Rood truck, police said.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500

Officer Huffman was assisted at the scene by Capt. Charles Inman.

Sheriff's Department

On Thursday, July 26 at 5:26 p.m. Phillip A. McVay, 70, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 950 South in a 1993 Chevrolet Silverado. He did not see Ricky D. Monroe, 58, Reelsville, rounding a corner in a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, and the two vehicles collided.

Damage was listed at $2,501-$5,000.
