Meteor shower viewing at McCloud

The McCloud Nature Park is hosting a viewing of the Perseids meteor shower on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 9 p.m.

Perseids is visible each year starting mid-July, but its peak activity falls between Aug. 9-14.

A park naturalist will give a short presentation about the meteor shower, beginning at 9 p.m., then take the group outside where an anticipated 60 meteors per hour may be seen.

Registration is required for the one-hour program.

The show is dependent on clear skies so those who are signed up are recommended to call 676-5437 before 5 p.m. if clouds are present.
