George Maurer

The Aug. 27 edition of Dine with a Doc will feature pharmacist and clinical nutritionist Dr. George "Fritz" Maurer.

The event will occur from 10 a.m.-noon at the First National Bank, 1128 Indianapolis Rd., Greencastle.

Dine with a Doc is a free program that allows the local senior community to hear the doctor of the month discuss an educational topic over lunch.

This month's program will focus on, "Why did God create cholesterol ... the 'natural perspective.'"

Maurer is a licensed pharmacist who opened his own pharmacy in December 1983, which he later converted into a "Wellness Center" to concentrate on his passion for "natural medicine" in July 2005.

He earned his certification for clinical nutrition and later enrolled at the Pan-American Institute to study under Dr. Charles McWilliams.

In October 2004, Maurer received his Doctor of Natural Medicine sanctioned under the World Organization of Naturopathic Medical Practitioners in Toronto. He is currently finishing his Naturopathic Doctor degree.

Brunch will be provided by Autumn Glen. Reservations are required, and can be made by calling 1-877-223-6109.

In addition to Maurer's presentation, health care providers will be available to share information about their services. Door prizes will be included.

The Dine with a Doc program was designed by Senior Education Ministries Inc. to allow seniors to get out of their homes, fellowship with their peers, extend their available financial resources, promote enhanced living and educate them about the topic of the month.
