Isabelle Martin

Isabelle Martin, 92, of Greencastle, formerly of Mooresville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012.

She was born Sept. 9, 1919 in Shoals, Ind., to the late Harley and Ebbie (Johnson) Dustin. She graduated from Shoals High School in 1937.

She married Richard E. Martin on December 6, 1941 in Mooresville. They were married 64 years. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2005.

Isabelle retired from American States Insurance Co. as a statistician but during the majority of her years she served as a homemaker. She was active in her church and volunteering. She was a member of the Light and Life Free Methodist Church in Avon.

Isabelle was preceded in death by her brothers Lee Dustin of Bedford and Gwin Dustin of Ellettsville and her sisters Grace Mikels and Bernice Evans of Bedford.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia Birkemeier of Greencastle; son James Douglas Martin of Daphne, Ala.; grandchildren Tracie Curtis of Greencastle and Tristan Birkemeier of Thermopolis, Wyo.; and great-grandchildren Codie Crockett and Cory Lyon of Greencastle and Jennifer Martin and Joseph Martin of Indianapolis.

Graveside services will be in the chapel at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13. Pastor Don Riggs will officiate with loving nieces Sondra Evans, Iris Riggs and Karla Riggs singing during the service. There will be no calling prior to services as per Isabelle's request.
