Cloverdale opens its season with a win

DANVILLE -- The Cloverdale volleyball defeated Danville in three sets Tuesday 27-25, 25-17 and 25-17 to open its season.

Leading the Clovers were Paige Gruener and Taylor Jones with eight points each, followed by Rebekah Jordan with seven. Bradanne Toney added six, with Bristy Skiles chipping in four and Jessica Winder adding four. Lindsay Robson and Adrianna Patterson had two points each.

Toney had 13 kills to lead the offense, with Jones adding seven, Gruener six and Patterson five. Jones also recorded 11 digs, while Toney logged nine and Gruener and Skiles added eight. Robson and Jordan contributed five digs each, while Winder added four.

Toney led the team in blocks with two and Skiles led the way with 30 set assists.

The Clovers host conference foe Cascade Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
