Fillmore lifts burn ban

Friday, August 24, 2012

The Fillmore Town Council has lifted the town's burn ban.

Town clerk-treasurer Wanda Seidler indicated the council plans to remain in line with any Putnam County burn ordinances for the rest of the drought.

"As I understand, the Fillmore Town Council's intention is to follow the county burn bans -- and lifts -- accordingly throughout the remainder of this drought period," Seidler said.

The Putnam County Commissioners voted to rescind the burn ban on Monday. However, county residents are still encouraged to exhibit extreme caution with any open burn.
