Cloverdale's Sydney Shrum hits an approach shot during Wednesday's round.

Greencastle's girls' golf squad hosted a major WCC three-way match at Windy Hill Country Club, entertaining Monrovia and Cloverdale Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs would take the top spot with a score of 205, followed by the hosts with a 222 and the Clovers with a round of 226.

Monrovia's Chrislyn Church held the lowest round of the day with a score of, 41, followed by Cloverdale's Sydney Shrum, who carded a 43.

Liz Johnson posted the low round of the day for Greencastle with a score of 50.

It was a rough round for the two Putnam County schools, as Greencastle head coach Brad Kingma and Cloverdale head coach Matthew Langdon noted.

"It was a rough round for Kenzie St. Marie. She had been sub-50 for the last four matches but let it go today. It'll be important for her to bounce back," Kingma said.

"Liz had been struggling as well so it was good for her to score 50 for her best round of the year. Lauren also played well tonight."

"Our ball striking has improved but we still need to work on the short game as tonight showed. We also need to find more consistency," Kingma said.

"Sometimes we have a great round the follow it up with bad rounds. Working on the short game and putting will help to not allow holes to get away from them," Kingma added.

"The score was disappointing but for four of our five girls, it was their first time playing Windy Hill. It's a tough course. It's hilly and not a lot of shots run out, so they've got to be on their game," Langdon said.

"We're disappointed with the score but we expected it to be higher. We've got a couple of days of practice this week and a couple of meets next week, so we're looking to get back under our 210 goal.

"We played well enough to stay close with Greencastle tonight. We've been a couple shots off of South Putnam and played North Putnam several times before," Langdon added.

"We're right in the hunt for the county title but in the middle of the season, the girls are getting tired. We need to recommit, have a couple of good practices and get back on track."
