Cougars edge Clovers

DANVILLE -- The North Putnam girls' golf team defeated Cloverdale 214-218 Tuesday.

Ellen Wilborn led the Cougars with a 49, followed by Josie Parent with a 53. Jessie Cox carded a 59, with Oliviia Zarate adding a 61. Emmy Rees came to the clubhouse with a 53.

Syndey Shrum paced the Clovers with a medalist earning round of 45.

This marked the first time the Clovers traveled to the Cougars home course of Twin Bridges.

North Putnam head coach Linda Patrick said the team knew it would be a close match and focused, while resulting in a good outing. She also said the team is staying strong and focused heading into the West Central Conference match Saturday at Deer Creek Golf Club.
