INDIANAPOLIS -- The Greencastle girls' cross country team fought tough opponents and equally tough course conditions during Saturday's Ben Davis Invitational. The Tiger Cubs finished 11th with a score of 322.

On a course that was partially covered in water due to flooded and almost 300 feet longer, Colleen Weatherford led the Tiger Cubs with a fifth place finish with a season-best time of 19:59. Kayla Cash finished 66th in a time of 22:30 and Alex Stoffregen was 76th in a time of 22:59.

Sammie Haynes finished 86th overall with a time of 23:27, with Hannah Brattian placing 89th in a time of 23:30 and Abigail Wilson placing 96th in a time of 23:55. Brittany Love rounded out the GHS runners with a 102nd place finish in a time of 24:05.

Greencastle head coach Garry Anderson said Stoffregen is really racing really strong. He also said he was pleased with how Cash was leading the pack during the race.

"While slipping, sliding and running through water over their ankles through much of the course the girls ran well," Anderson said.

Greencastle will compete at the Decatur Central Invite Saturday at 9 a.m.
