Soaring into the Past

What was it like to fly on an airline in 1929? Adventurous travelers can find out this weekend at the Putnam County Airport on the visiting Ford Tri-Motor aircraft. Originally constructed for Eastern Airlines, this Tri-Motor has been restored by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and now travels the country giving passengers a taste of the bygone era of flight. EAA Chapter 1374 is hosting the plane at the Putnam County Airport through Sunday, and tours will be available from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Prices are $80 for adults, $40 for students 6-17. Children under five fly free when flying on the same flight as their parent or legal guardian. If you would like to sit up front with the pilot, a seat in the co-pilot chair is $125.
