GHS wins, Weatherford breaks course record

The Greencastle girls' cross country team won the Decatur Central Invite Saturday with a score of 38.

Colleen Weatherford finished first on the day with a time of 19:02, which broke the course record. Kayla Cash placed fourth with a time of 20:50 and Hannah Brattain rounded out the top with, placing 10th in a time of 21:32.

Alex Stoffregen was 11th in a time of 21:33, with Sammy Haynes placing 12th in a time of 21:40. Brittany Love was 17th in a time of 22:02 and Abigail Wilson was 18th in a time of 24:56.

In JV action, Corrie Romer won with a time of 23:14, with Megan Haynes placing second with a time of 23:18. Jessica Tucker was fifth overall with a time of 24:48.

"The girls raced aggressively and determined throughout the entire course," GHS head coach Garry Anderson said. "We were well prepared for the competition both from the teams and the runners."

Anderson said Cash is doing a great job of being the lead girl in the Greencastle pack.

Greencastle will host the Tiger Cub Invite Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.
