North Putnam volleyball falls on Senior Night

Saturday, October 6, 2012

The North Putnam volleyball team lost to Southmont 25-18, 25-16 and 25-18 on Senior Night Thursday.

The match began with senior Morgan Robinson serving to begin the game and scoring the matches first point. Robinson was injured in a Feb. 20 automobile accident, which left her in a wheelchair.

"Morgan has been an inspiration and a big motivator for the team this year," North Putnam head coach Jill Schreiber said.

Fellow seniors Katie Welch and Samantha Lucas recorded six kills and one ace each.

"Katie was a great team leader and a joy to have on the team," Schreiber said. "Samantha has been a big help to the middle hitters coming up for next year."

The final senior for the Cougars was Lynsey Herrick, who added three digs on the night.

"Lynsey was our team mom," Schreiber said. "She was always cheering the team on and keeping the team spirits high.

"These four seniors will be greatly missed," she added. "We wish them the best in their future endeavors."
