Simpson running for re-election to NP School Board
Jacquelyn Simpson is seeking her second term as the Russell Township representative to the North Putnam Community School Board.
Simpson is a graduate of North Putnam and attended Russellville Elementary. She graduated from Purdue University with a degree in accounting and is employed by a local telecommunications company in Roachdale.
She currently has a third grade student attending Roachdale Elementary and active in the various North Putnam youth sports leagues.
"The position of school board member is to develop policy for the school corporation to follow and to be fiscally responsible to all North Putnam area taxpayers," Simpson said. "I do not see this position as one to micromanage the administrators and staff of North Putnam. Also I am a firm believer in the chain of command that must be followed for our schools to run successfully and effectively."
Simpson said she will not shy away from doing the extra work or making the tough decisions necessary for the school's continued success.
"As a school board member it is my job to make the best decisions possible for the betterment of our corporation," she said. "This may require seeking more information on topics presented for discussion and vote and asking questions of administrators, staff and vendors. These decisions may not always be easy to make but are necessary to provide the best possible educational experience for all North Putnam students at all levels.
"Please keep in mind these decisions are not personal but are business decisions for the betterment of our corporation."
Her goal is to make all schools in the district as successful as they can possibly be.
"I would like North Putnam Community School Corporation and all its schools to receive an 'A' grade on the A-F Accountability from the Indiana Department of Education," Simpson said. "I feel that my position on the school board is to make the best decisions possible and help create opportunities for North Putnam attain these goals.
"I would appreciate your vote on Nov. 6," she concluded. "It's great to be a Cougar."
