McCloud Nature Park to host bat event on Oct. 20

Saturday, October 13, 2012

On Saturday, Oct. 20 the Nature Center at McCloud Park will have an event that will study bats.

The event begins at 2 p.m. and attendants will learn about the benefits of having them around and will focus on the Indiana bat. Attendants will also learn about the efforts being taken to provide habitats for the bats.

The bat program is free and is designed for all ages. It will last approximately 90 minutes. There will also be a trail hike in search of bat habitats in the park.

After the program, attendants can continue their hike or test their way finding skills in a free Bat Prairie Maze.

McCloud Nature Park is operated by Hendricks County Parks and Recreation and is located five minutes south of North Salem at 8518 N. Hughes Rd.

Admission is always free and the park is open from dawn to dusk daily.

The Nature Center's hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
