Emma Jean Endsley

Emma Jean Endsley, 84, of Brazil, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at 1:25 a.m. at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility. She had been a resident there for a short time.

She had earlier resided at Jackson Gardens in Brazil and also had lived in Clay City.

Emma was born June 22, 1928 in Clay County, the daughter of Ross W. James and Emma Stevenson James.

She graduated from Van Buren High School and also attended business college. Emma worked as a secretary for American Credit Indemnity.

On April 10, 1966 Emma Jean was united in marriage to James Keith Endsley, and together they lived in Bainbridge. He preceded her in death Nov. 2, 2002.

Emma was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and also attended Heritage Baptist Church in Clay City. She also had attended the Baptist Church in Greencastle.

She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Knightsville Chapter. Emma participated in Race for the Cure for several years.

She enjoyed playing bingo and the company of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Doris Johnson, Frankie Rutherford, Janet Bledsoe and Patricia Kay James; and brother Robert "Bob" James.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Barnes and husband Ed of Brownsburg; granddaughter Christina Wilcox and husband Christopher; sisters Letricia "Tish" Autison, Sandra Sue Ames and husband Tom; brothers John R. James, Wilber "Web" James and wife Ann, Wilmer "Tub" James and wife Donna and Thomas James and wife Phyllis; many nieces, nephews and extended family, including special friend, Patty Curtis.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, with Pastor Jason Selby officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Entombment will be at a later date at West Ridge Park in Indianapolis.
