Tuesday, November 13, 2012

ELLETTSVILLE -- A Spencer man was killed Sunday afternoon when his ATV flipped, trapping him underneath.

The accident happened while 27-year-old Daniel Cutshaw was maneuvering his Honda 4-Trax 250 up a steep hill on private property off of Reeves Road in Monroe County.

While climbing the hill, the ATV rolled backwards, pinning the driver underneath, a release from the Department of Natural Resources said.

Cutshaw was carrying a passenger who jumped off the ATV, escaping injuries.

Indiana Conservation Officer Angela Goldman was called to the property around 4 p.m., finding Cutshaw dead at the scene.

Both Cutshaw and his passenger were wearing helmets. Even though Cutshaw was wearing some safety equipment he still sustained fatal head trauma.

Alcohol was determined to not be a factor in the incident.

Responding agencies were Indiana Conservation Officers, Ellettsville Fire Department, Monroe County Sherriff's Department and Bloomington IU Health Ambulances.
