Judy Parker of Cloverdale was named the 2012 Friend of Extension during the annual meeting of Purdue Extension-Putnam County Advisory Council Tuesday evening at the Fairgrounds.

Parker was recognized for her many decades of dedicated service. In addition to serving on the Extension Board several terms over the years, she has been an active volunteer with Extension Homemakers, 4-H and the Putnam County Fair.

She served as part of the Family, Community Leadership team in the early '90s and has assisted with activities in the Adult Open Class exhibit hall for the past 20 years.

Parker helped start the Double Friendship Club in 1962. That club celebrated its 50th anniversary with a float in the 2012 Fair Parade.

While presenting the Friend of Extension Award to Parker, Extension Educator Jackie Baumann noted that while Judy and her husband Rex are loyal supporters of Extension and 4-H, their lives really revolve around the "3-F's -- Faith, Family and Farm."

Over the years Parker has commented on more than one occasion that she felt like she had gotten the equivalent of a college education from all of the Extension programs she has attended and participated in.
