City Police

A 44-year-old Greencastle woman was lodged in the Putnam County Jail Tuesday after trying to push a cart full of groceries out the door at Kroger without paying for them, City Police reported.

Capt. Mike Hanlon was called to the Indianapolis Road store at 4:08 p.m. and arrested Tamara Mobley for shoplifting and theft.

She reportedly filled a cart with $218.25 worth of miscellaneous items, including bread, ice cream, Propel water, various food items and even floral arrangements, and attempted to roll on out to the parking lot.

Two recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

--At 4 a.m. Monday, Leslie Petiniot, 41, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street.

-- At 12:53 a.m. Saturday, Lori Miller, 42, Bowling Green, was cited by Officer Eastham for 52 mph in 30-mph zone at North Jackson and Green streets.

County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 12:02 a.m. Cameron Tyler Stockton, 26, Greencastle, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated with a prior, resisting law enforcement, driving with a suspended license, probation violation and criminal recklessness.

* On Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 12:20 p.m. Calvin Mitchell Minnix-Spiker, 20, Cloverdale, was charged with violation of home detention.

* On Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 12:32 a.m. Anthony McDowell, 28, Greencastle, was charged with resisting law enforcement, operating while intoxicated and disorderly conduct disturbing the peace.

* On Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 3:30 a.m. Anthony N. Rivera, 30, Indianapolis, was charged with disorderly conduct disturbing the peace, public intoxication and intimidation.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department was dispatched several times recently.

* On Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 1:31 p.m. crews went to 534 N. Arlington St. to assist Operation Life. They returned to station at 2:15 p.m.

* On Thursday, Nov. 22 at 8:43 a.m. they were dispatched to 330 Greenwood Ave. because of an active fire alarm. They were back at 9:12 a.m.

At 3:08 p.m. department officials traveled to 605 Crown St. for an alarm. They were in service at 3:17 p.m.

At 7:42 p.m. firefighters were sent to 4240 S. CR 125 East for a fire in the woods. They were in service at 9:14 p.m.

* On Friday, Nov. 23 at 12:27 p.m. crews were called to 98 N. 10th St., but disregarded a minute later before leaving the station.

At 12:52 p.m. they went to 408 1/2 E. Hanna St. for an odor investigation. They cleared at 1:19 p.m.

* On Saturday, Nov. 24 at 3:53 p.m. firefighters were sent to 301 E. Seminary St. for an alarm set off during cooking. They were in service at 4:04 p.m.

* On Sunday, Nov. 25 at 11:25 a.m. crews went to 107 E. Hanna St. for an alarm set off during cooking. They cleared at 11:39 a.m., and then were called next door to 109 E. Hanna St. for another cooking-related alarm at 12:18 p.m. They were in service at 12:27 p.m.

At 5:11 p.m. they went to the corner of Larabee and Hanna streets to investigate a gas leak of potentially hazardous materials. They found nothing and were back in station at 5:21 p.m.

At 5:27 p.m. firefighters went to assist Operation Life at 1014 Mill Pond Lane. They cleared at 5:47 p.m.

* On Monday, Nov. 26 at 6:46 a.m. crews went to 1140 Chestnut Ct. on an odor investigation. They found nothing suspicious and were in service at 7:18 a.m.

Firefighters went to 110 E. Larabee St. at 8:14 a.m. and 8:44 a.m. to respond to a malfunctioning alarm. It was fixed and they cleared at 8:51 a.m.

At 4:56 p.m. an alarm went off at 1014 Mill Pond Ln., but the department was disregarded before leaving the station.

At 4:58 p.m. crews were dispatched to 808 N. Madison, Lot 12 for a gas leak outside the home. Vectren made repairs and they were in service at 5:43 p.m.
