Community Cantata Choir to present 'Journey of Promises' at two churches

The Community Cantata Choir performs during one of its 2011 programs. Many of the same singers have returned for the two performances this coming weekend. A community cantata choir representing nine churches will be giving two weekend performances of "Journey of Promises" by Joseph Martin. The first performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church on the corner of Locust and Seminary streets in Greencastle.

The second performance is set for 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at the Greencastle Presbyterian Church on Round Barn Road.

Length of the cantata is 45 minutes. The performances are free of cost to the public.

Director of music and accompanist is Cheryl Beck. Choir director is William Scharfenberger.

Soloists are Erik Erlandson and Claire Wilkinson.

Narrators include Brian and Eleanor Howard (Saturday) and Brady and Rebecca Rhodes (Sunday).

DePauw instrumentalists include Travis Miller (trumpeter), Susan Miller (violin) and Megan Benedict (flutist).
