Mary E. Garrison, age 84, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012.

Born Aug. 18, 1928 in South Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Henry) Canizaro.

She married Robert F. Garrison on Nov. 3, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1993.

Mary had worked at George's Pizza, G.C. Murphy's, and as a bartender at the VFW on Saturdays, all of Greencastle.

Mary's love was her family, being an extraordinary mother and granny. She will be remembered as an excellent baker, and a generous, compassionate lady, always willing to lend a helping hand to others.

She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and Ladies Guild; a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary; and the Women of the Moose.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra (Mike) Huffman, Anita Garrison, and Lisa (Tim) Duncan, all of Greencastle; six grandchildren, Andrea (Darin) Moyer, Kimberly Robson, Jill (Jamey) Cook, Joshua (Kate) Duncan, Nicolas Duncan (fiancée Erica Porter) and Alicia (Paul) Davidson; great-grandchildren, Joe, Cody, Michael, Ryley, Noah, Becca, Madeline and Georgianna Mary; a great-great-granddaughter, Ciara Castee;l sister-in-laws, Mary Margaret Potts and Betty West; brother-in-law, Frank (Garnetta) Horner; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughters Barbara Robson and Patti O'Hair; brothers Benny, Tommy, Joseph, Vincent and John Canizaro; and a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Moyer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Greencastle, with Fr. Darvin Winters officiating and Pastor Alan Small presenting the eulogy. Interment will follow at the Brick Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with a Rosary Service at 3:30 p.m.
