Bainbridge work to improve sidewalks

BAINBRIDGE -- Bainbridge Town Council had its regular meeting Wednesday night, discussing sidewalk repairs to be compliant with Americans With Disabilities Act and the paying for property damage.

Jason Hartman presented Resolution 2012-1, which deals with town sidewalks to be compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). The resolution will call for the fixing of all the sidewalks that are not handicap accessible.

Utilities Superintendent Troy Elless will be conducting a survey to determine which sidewalks will need to be updated in town.

Hartman informed the council that not doing these small changes could have an effect on future government funding for projects.

The council also approved the payment for damages done to Charlie Boller's property during the stormwater project that is scheduled to be finished in the spring.

Jim Ensley wrote an email to the town council in regard to an alley that is being looked at to close. "A survey would need to be completed to determine ownership (of the alley)," he wrote.

If the alley were determined not to be owned by the town, Ensley would have to see how ownership could be transferred to the town.

In other council news, the following have been appointed to boards and commissions:

- Susan Cope, Park Board.

- Jeffery Trent, Board of Zoning Appeals (Plan Commission).

- Brian Rhoden, Board of Zoning Appeals (at-large).

Meanwhile, Chuck McElwee has been nominated to serve on the Putnam County Animal Control Advisory Board.
