Gene O. Richardson

Gene O. Richardson, age 82, Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at Hickory Creek at Sunset, Greencastle.

He was born on Aug. 26, 1930 in Montgomery County. He was the son of the late Orville and Lula (Summers) Richardson.

He was a tool-and-die maker, and the husband of Bessie Richardson for 51 years.

He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1948, and served in the U.S. Army.

Gene worked in Indianapolis for a time before moving to Greencastle, where he then retired from IBM Corp. after 20 years of service.

Survivors are sons Larry Richardson and wife Cathena of Greencastle, Jerry Richardson and wife Carol of Palm Bay, Fla.; his grandchildren, Ryan Richardson and companion Cristina Tincher of Greencastle, Vanessa (Richardson) Blake and husband Emery, Tampa, Fla., and Lauren Richardson, Palm Bay, Fla.; great-granddaughter Emma Jane Richardson, Greencastle; his brother, Jack Richardson and wife Betty, Columbus, Ohio; and his brother-in-law, Bill Clifton of Crawfordsville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
