Fair Board Funds

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Jessie McFarland presents a check for $400 to Putnam County Fair Board President Steve Greeson, representing half the proceeds of the 2012 Community Halloween Festival sponsored by Putnam County Extension Homemakers. This was the fourth year Extension Homemakers have sponsored a fall fundraiser to benefit local youth. The first year was a Sock Hop and Car Show with half the funds going to Coats for Kids and half going to the Putnam County Fairgrounds general fund to help maintain the facility. The second year the event was changed to a Halloween Festival held in conjunction with the Coats for Kids distribution. Extension Homemakers have hosted the Halloween Festival the last three years to provide a safe, fun event for local children as well as to help raise funds for local youth. The other half of the proceeds from the third annual event went to the Putnam Youth Development Council, which heads the local Coats for Kids effort and supports many programs for local youth.
