County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Friday, Jan. 18 at 1:40 p.m. Kyle Lee Doolin, 20, Reelsville, was arrested for residential entry.

* On Sunday, Jan. 20 at 3:21 a.m. Todd Tyler Zimmerman, 47, Reelsville, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police.

-- At 2:09 a.m. Sunday, Justin Lee Toland, 24, Greencastle, was arrested on East Washington Street for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail after registering a .13 percent blood-alcohol level, Toland was originally stopped by Sgt. Charles Inman for having a defective muffler.

He was issued a warning ticket for the muffler violation as well as for having an expired license plate.

-- At 8:13 p.m. Friday, Jonathan Leroy McGowan, 32, Indianapolis, was arrested by Sgt. Inman on North Madison Street and lodged in the Putnam County Jail on two counts of possession of a syringe (a Class D felony).

About 90 minutes earlier, City Police had received a call about a suspicious person trying to sell meat out of his vehicle in the 800 block of North Madison.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that McGowan had not obtain a permit or solicitor's license from the city. When his vehicle was searched, police reportedly found the syringes.

One two-vehicle accident was reported Friday by City Police.

-- At 6:45 p.m., a mishap occurred in the parking lot of the Shoppes of Greencastle, 1360 Indianapolis Rd.

Officer Nick Eastham reported that a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Christy Morris, 29, Fillmore, and 2002 Mitsubishi, driven by Joseph Zaborski, 43, Greencastle, had both stopped in front of the Casa Grande Mexican restaurant.

Morris, however, began backing up without realizing the Zaborski car was stopped behind her, and a collision occurred.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

Three recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 12:20 a.m. Monday, Kayla Berry, 18, Martinsville, was ticketed by Officer Eastham on Bloomington Street for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone.

-- At 1:18 a.m. Sunday, James E. Noland, 59, Indianapolis, was ticketed by Reserve Officer David Clodfelter for 47 mph in a 30-mph zone on Indianapolis Road.

-- At 10:59 p.m. Friday, Bronson Burgeson, 19, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Eastham for 51 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.
