County Jail

Four people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Thursday, Jan. 24 at 1:50 p.m. Autumn Dawn Burger (Bartley), 27, Greencastle, was arrested for theft, criminal conversion and battery with bodily injury.

At 2 p.m. Heath Gregory Willis, 22, Lafay-ette, was charged with operating while intoxicated and probation violation.

At 6:30 p.m. Steven Lucas, 36, Terre Haute, was held at the jail for nonsupport of a dependent.

* On Friday, Jan. 25 at 2 a.m. John Taylor Baron, 21, St. Charles, Ill., was booked in for possession of marijuana and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

City Police

A two-vehicle mishap on Indianapolis Road was investigated Thursday afternoon by Greencastle City Police.

The accident occurred at 3:17 p.m. as Travis Hall, 21, Greencastle, stopped his westbound 2002 Ford F250 pickup truck to allow another vehicle to pull out of the York Automotive dealership at 1501 Indianapolis Rd.

The Hall truck was then struck from behind by a 2000 Mercury Cougar, driven by Corrine Jones, 28, Greencastle, who told Sgt. Terry Eastham she tried to go around the truck but was unable to avoid a collision.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two dispatches on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 24.

* At 8:41 p.m. firefighters performed a lift assist at 1001 S. Fillmore Rd., returning to station at 8:51 p.m.

* At 9:54 p.m. responders assisted the Greencastle Police Department at 330 Greenwood Ave. They cleared the scene at 10:06 p.m.
