GHS now offering Alumni Scholarship

Friday, February 1, 2013

The Greencastle High School alumni scholarships are being offered again this year.

The GHS alumni scholarship fund has awarded 105 scholarships to GHS graduates since its inception in 1995. The fund is housed in the Putnam County Community Foundation and only the interest is used for the scholarships so that the fund may continue.

Applications are considered from any GHS graduate who attended GHS for at least two years and is enrolled in an accredited college or other approved institution. Equal weight is given to the applicant's scholarship, citizenship and need.

Scholarship recipients are selected by the Greencastle Alumni Board and the Putnam County Foundation approves of the recipients. All other aspects of the scholarship are independent of the foundation.

Any may apply for this scholarship no matter what the year of graduation is. Recent scholarships awarded have been for $1,000 per year.

Applications are available from the GHS guidance counselor, the Putnam County Foundation or online at greencastlealumni.com.

All applications must be post dated by March 15 and mailed to: GHS Alumni Association, c/o Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 846, Greencastle, IN 46135.

Two scholarships will be given to graduating seniors. Recipients are eligible to apply or re-apply for the scholarship during undergraduate college.
