Honoring Victims' Rights
In observance of National Crime Victims' Rights (NCVR) Week, Putnamville Correctional Facility Superintendent Stanley Knight extended an invitation to Community Advisory Board members and staff to attend a tree-planting ceremony at the facility. The ceremony commenced with Assistant Superintendent Tim Phegley (right) reading a proclamation issued by Indiana Gov. Michael R. Pence designating as NCVR week. It concluded with Phegley and Major Harley Crabb (third from left) officially breaking ground for the planting of a white pine donated by Oakland City University's facility horticulture program. A memorial tree was being planted at each of the 26 IDOC adult and juvenile correctional facilities to honor victims in Indiana. Participating in the ceremony are offenders Daniel Brewington and Jose Crone-Arias, Maj. Crabb, Mike Shouse, Josh Mattox, Michael Tickner, Brent Shipp, David Wire, Michael Litz, Brad Deal and Assistant Supt. Phegley.
