Current Putnamville Correctional Facility superintendent Stanley Knight was joined by several former superintendents recently in congratulating Marylyn Detro-Reed on her retirement from the facility after 35 years.

PUTNAMVILLE -- Current and past superintendents Stanley Knight, Richard Clark, Brian Smith, Dushaun Zatecky and Al Parke recently bid farewell to administrative secretary Marylyn Reed during a retirement celebration held at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.

PCF staffers extended their best wishes to Reed, who retired after 35 years of state service to the Department of Correction and the Putnamville Facility.

The staff member chosen for the Non-Custody Employee Award for the first quarter of 2013 began her career at Putnamville Correctional Facility on June 24, 1977 as the classification secretary. She was later promoted to the position of the superintendent secretary.

Marylyn has been described as "the face of the facility." She always conducts herself in a professional, courteous and helpful manner. She excels in coordinating facility activities. Her competency is displayed every day; but is especially noticeable in times of transition.

Reed has helped to ensure the facility operated smoothly during the 10 different supervisor changes she has experienced. She is the epitome of what others want to emulate when holding a position such as hers.

She is currently in the process of ensuring her vast array of knowledge is passed on to other personnel upon her impending retirement.

Reed has been an invaluable asset to this facility and to the Department of Correction.
