Ollie M. Skillern Sr., 88, Martinsville, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.

Mr. Skillern was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Indianapolis to the late John Skillern and Lilly (Edge) Smith. 



He worked for 33 years in the freight business, 10 of those with ABF. He was an ordained minister and touched many lives through evangelization through the years. He enjoyed repairing furniture, woodworking and staying busy.

Mr. Skillern especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. A good husband, father, and grandfather, Ollie will be missed by his loving family. 



In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.



Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra (Gregory) Skillern, to whom he was united in marriage Feb. 2, 1963; children Ginger Skillern of Indianapolis, Ollie Skillern Jr. of Mooresville, Christopher Skillern (Michelle) of Heritage Lake, Donna Baker of Stilesville, Dianna Compton of Florida, Betty Janitz of Florida and William Skillern of Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.



The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 in the Carlisle--Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 24. Rev. Sims Brock will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
