Sign promoting the Friends of the Park Father's Day Cookout, set for Saturday, was recently stolen along with three others.

ROACHDALE-Three signs belonging to Friends of the Park were recently stolen from their locations in Roachdale, said Dianna Gorell, president of the Northern Putnam County chapter of Friends of the Park.

Gorrell said two yellow signs and one white sign, all advertising the Father's Day cookout and car show Saturday, were taken between 10 p.m. June 12 and 8 a.m. June 13. The white sign was attached to signs at the Roachdale park, and the yellow signs were together on the corner of Indiana Street and Ind. 236 by a gas station.

The signs were put up June 7 to advertise the event. Gorrell said Friends of the Park paid $600 for the three signs.

Friends of the Park would like the signs back before the event on Saturday, but Gorrell said even afterwards is fine. "We can use them over and over again," she said.

Gorrell is offering a "no questions asked" deal to whoever returns the signs.

"Whoever stole them can bring them back and just say they found them somewhere, and we won't ask any questions," she told The BannerGraphic.

She asked that the signs be returned in front of the Roachdale town hall or to the Roachdale hardware store.

Gorrell said her main concern right now is that residents will believe the event was canceled since the signs are gone. She bought over $100 worth of postcards the day the signs went missing to "send them to Roachdale residents to let them know it wasn't canceled."

"Just because the signs are gone doesn't mean we're not doing it," she said.

The Friends of the Park Father's Day cookout and car show is being held at the Roachdale Community Park Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
