Cloverdale horse arena moving ahead with loan

CLOVERDALE -- After months of speculation, Crossroads Arena will soon be coming to Cloverdale.

Crossroads Arena representative Jim Skinner told the BannerGraphic Friday that the company had recently finalized loans for the project, which has been in the works for more than a year.

"It's fantastic to be past the financial stage," Skinner said.

Although Skinner said getting financial backing took longer than expected, he said construction for the project has already begun. Edwards-Rigdon Construction, Danville, is the general contractor for the project.

"It's great," Skinner said. "It will be great when we see some steel sticking up in the air."

He added construction should be completed before the end of the year and the arena should be ready for competition by December.

Skinner said First Financial Bank, Lafayette, and Cloverdale First National Bank loaned money for the project.

Plans for the arena have been in the work for quite some time. The plans call for a 192,000-square foot building to be used as an exposition center and horse show arena.

Blue prints for the arena call for two indoor show arenas, two outdoor arenas, 500 horse stalls, access for recreational vehicles and horse trailers, and a restaurant. The indoor facility will also be heated in order to conduct horse shows during winter months.

Skinner's partner in the project is Steve Jackson, Greencastle.
