Dorothy Mae Rossok Surber

Dorothy Mae Rossok Surber, 81, Greencastle, died Sunday at The Waters of Greencastle.

Born in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Edward and Minnie Spriet Rossock. She married Harold "Bud" Surber Feb. 4, 1944, and he survives.

A 1943 graduate of Greencastle High School, she later worked for Adams Ryan Wholesale in Greencastle, Allisons in Indianapolis (during World War II) and DePauw University for Frank Devaney and Larry Elam, retiring in 1981 after 22 years.

She was a 72-year member of Greencastle First Baptist Church, as well as member of Greencastle Friendly Square Dancers for 35 years and the DePauw Retired Ladies.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Beverly Jo Costin, Greencastle; son Michael Duane Surber and wife Carrie, Carmel; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers, sisters Margaret Baird, Mary Gasper Cash and Katherine Rodney, and brothers Edward Jr., Joseph, Wilbert "Bill" and Michael Richard Rossok.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chandler-Hays Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Paul Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
