Garland R. Williams, 92, Carbon, died Tuesday morning at Healthsouth of Terre Haute.

Born in Sullivan County, he was a 1932 graduate of Pimento High School.

He had been a farmer in Parke County, drove a school bus for Van Buren School Corp. and was a logger. He served on the committee for agriculture stabilization in Parke County.

He married Clara L. Murphy York on June 12, 1942. She died Nov. 19, 2003.

Surviving are two sons, Warren Williams and wife Peggy, Carbon, and Gary Williams and wife Jane, Indianapolis; a stepson, James York and wife Fran, Carbon; two daughters, Sandra Williams, Carbon, and Karen Passo and husband Samuel, Hopkinsville, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Clarlou Thompson and husband Thomas, Carbon; three sisters, Martha Maxine Hostetler, Dayton, Ohio, Imogene Berenguer and husband Fred, Murphy, N.C., and Betty June Fales and husband Joseph, Palatka, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil, with Bro. Rick Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
