Clarence Edwin Kitchen, 84, St. Charles, Mo., died Tuesday after a lengthy illness.

Born in St. Louis, he was the son of John and Charlotte Louise (Tiemann) Kitchen.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A project engineer, he retired from Lincoln Engineering in St. Louis.

He and his wife were active in the fundraising, design and construction of the BB Road Community Building and Firehouse in Oregon County. He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 1014, Alton, Mo.

He married Ramona Kersey in Greencastle on June 19, 1965. She died Aug. 29, 2003.

Surviving are nieces and nephews, and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother John Kitchen Jr.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hays Funeral Home, Coatesville.

Burial with military honors will be in Stilesville Cemetery.

Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Friday.
