Robert W. Shetler, 71, Greencastle, formerly of Indianapolis, died Sunday.

Born in Rosiclare, Ill., he was the son of Floyd E. and Margaret Bell Zimmers Shetler.

A 1953 graduate of Rosiclare High School, he was a member of the Emmanuel Christian Church in Limedale, Woodmen of the World and Local 60 in Indianapolis where he retired as a trim carpenter.

He married Opal N. Nicoson Sharp on Aug. 4, 1984, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Robert W. Shetler Jr. and wife Rose, Indianapolis, and Christopher H. Shetler and wife Barbara, McCordsville; a daughter, Julie Shetler, Indianapolis; a sister, Wilma Smith, Indianapolis; two step-sons, Gerald W. "Bud" Sharp and wife Carolyne, and Roger L. Sharp and wife Ursula, all of Greencastle; 14 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl Shetler.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Greg Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at Boone Hutcheson Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
