Ellen Irene Alexander, 80, Coatesville, died Mon-day morning at Hendricks Regional Health, Danville.

Born in Clay County, she was the daughter of John Edgar and Laura Ester (Harrington) Gummere.

A graduate of Cory High School, she had been a homemaker and worked at several businesses. She was a member of Fillmore Christian Church and Club Sixteen Extension Home-makers, Fillmore.

She married Shirrel Alexander on April 6, 1947. He survives.

Also surviving are a son, William Kumpf Jr. and wife Mary, Tennessee; a daughter, Virginia Boyce and husband Ken, Fillmore; stepson, Stephen Alexander and wife Betty, Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Edith Gummere and Louise Kylander and husband Fred, both of Center Point; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Frank Fishback officiating. Burial will be in Fillmore Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.
