Edward Drake Brookshire, 90, Roachdale, died Tuesday at Hendricks Regional Hospital, Danville.

Born at Roachdale, he was the son of Carl and Pearl (Conkright) Brookshire.

A 1933 graduate of Ladoga High School, he attended Purdue University, majoring in agronomy and dairy science. He worked for six years as dairy superintendent at Madison State Hospital, then returned to take over the Bookshire Dairy Farm.

He was a lifetime member of the Holstein Association, serving on the selection committee for bulls to be used in the AI program. He was a member of the Dairy Shrine Club, and served on the board of the Indianapolis Dairy Council for 12 years. He was a life member of the Roachdale Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Roachdale Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon.

He married Yvonne Thompson in 1943. He later married Barbara Daniels on Aug. 13, 1949 in Maywood, Ill.

Surviving are his wife Barbara; sons Carl Drake Brookshire, Ninevah, and Joel Daniel Brookshire, Roachdale; daughter Sara-jane Dee Brookshire Fenton and husband William, Avon; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, Roachdale.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday.
