Henry J. Kruse Sr., 76, Greencastle, formerly of Itasca, Ill., died Thursday at the Hendricks Regional Health, Danville.

Born in Elmwood Park, Ill., he was raised in the Chicagoland area.

He served on the Destroyer Tender USS Yellowstone in the US Navy until is honorable discharge in 1954. He received a degree in electrical engineering from Devry Technical Institute in Chicago in 1956.

He was a member of the IBEW Union Local 134 in Chicago and a vice president of Interstate Electronics for 23 years. He also volunteered at Peace Lutheran School, Greencastle.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Charlotte "Sherry" (Moberly) Kruse; sons, Henry J. Kruse Jr. and wife Kathryn, and Ronald F. Kruse and wife Victoria; a daughter, Margaret M. Kruse; two sisters, Alma Tworek and Rose Marie Nealt; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Gloria Nelson, Norma Kruse, Alice Irgang, and Patricia Kruse.

Service were conducted Tuesday at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, Wheaton, Ill.

A memorial service is pending at Peace Lutheran Church.
