Gina Lee Smelcer, 26, Greencastle, died Thursday as the result of an automobile accident in Lawrence-ville, Ill.

Born in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Floyd and Gloria (Cox) Pelfrey.

She married Richard Lynn Smelcer on Aug. 26, 2006, and he also died Thursday in the auto accident.

A 1998 graduate of Greencastle High School, she earned a business administration degree from Vincennes University in 2000. She worked for George Fern Co. in Indianapolis as a secretary for two years in purchasing and receiving. She was previously employed by Putnam County Hospital as a lab secretary for four years. She was a member of Business Professionals of America.

Surviving are her parents, sister Melissa Brown and husband George, Greencastle, and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Pearce Funeral Home, Marshall, Ill.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, and 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home, Marshall, Ill.
